Day 1 Iquitos - Río Amazonas
Reception at the airport in Iquitos and transfer to the port to board the cruise Aqua Amazon.
06:00 pm Shipping, while it is installed in your spacious room, start the boat trip through the Yanayacu River, deep in the Amazon.
In the following days, you sailed by the powerful on a spectacular adventure.
07:30 pm Before dinner we will perform in the top cover to inform about safety on board. Then the cruise director and guides will give a brief orientation talk about life on board, the places you will go and what you will see on your Amazon journey.
08:00 pm Welcome dinner. Peruvian cuisine is considered one of the best in the world. This is presented here with a European touch, maridando dishes with an excellent selection of South American wines. While enjoying these delicacies, look at the river and surrounding area through our panoramic windows. Before retiring, we suggest you enjoy a cocktail on the top deck under the stars.
Day 2 Amazon River / Lake Tahuayo and Charo
06:30 am Amazon River Expedition. Get up early to watch the first sunrise over the Amazon river. This is just a taste of what lies the rest of your trip.
08:00 am Our sumptuous daily breakfast buffet features a wide variety of dishes, plus Peruvian specialties and fresh fruit juices.
09:15 am Exploration Tahuayo River and Fishing on Lake Charo. This morning you will board the comfortable boat to sail from the Amazon River through the shortcut channel Huaysi and explore the river Tahuayo of dark water. Life jackets, ponchos, rubber boots and fresh water are always available on our boats.
As we sail across the river Tahuayo, occasional fishermen paddling in their canoes, keep your binoculars ready to see a variety of wildlife; swallows, tropical songbirds, blackbirds, black hawks, monkeys and sloths neck, sharing this wonderful place with us. After our arrival at Charo Lake, you may use your hooks to try to catch some of the ferocious piranhas and other kinds of fish while fishing, our guides will tell the story of the lake and its inhabitants.
11:30 am Cold towels await you, while moving back aboard the Aqua Amazon. While the ship continues its journey down the Amazon River, you have free time to rest or take a nap before lunch.
12:30 pm Enjoy a light lunch in our dining room with air conditioning.
04:00 pm Explore the Yacapana islands and visit the dolphins. The locals call Yacapana Islands "Islands of the Iguana" by the large number of these reptiles (like tiny dinosaurs) which inhabit them. Amazon beliefs say that if you touch an iguana, you will develop some of its characteristics. As the sun sets, you will have the opportunity to see and photograph the freshwater dolphins gray and pink. The people of the Amazon believe that these dolphins turn into humans to steal their peoples to men and women of great beauty during celebrations.
07:30 p.m. We will return to Aqua Amazon and continue our journey upstream, toward the headwaters of the Amazon River, where the Maranon and Ucayali rivers meet to form it. Before dinner, we recommend sip a "pisco sour" on the upper deck while watching the sunset.
08:00 pm Dinner.
Day 3 Pacaya Samiria National Reserve (Nauta Caño-Yanayacu / Yarina - Pucate)
06:30 am Breakfast.
07:30 am Full day excursion to the primary forest. This morning your Naturalist Guide will tell about sustainable development projects in the Amazon. You will visit one of the projects, where villagers are planting palms to obtain oil. Your guide will also show you the artificial nests created on the sand to protect turtle eggs. Then we go into the jungle to encounter wildlife and learn first hand about the value of medicinal plants in the jungle. We observe the famous Ceiba tree, the highest in the Amazon.
08:30 am Guided walk in the Jungle Ranger Station No 1. This morning, the park rangers will tell you about sustainable development projects in the Amazon. You will visit one of the projects, where villagers are planting palms to obtain oil Ranger will also show you the artificial nests created on the sand to protect turtle eggs.
11 am Back to Aqua Amazon.
12:30 pm Lunch, followed by a nap.
04:00 pm Expedition to observe monkeys and dolphins. In this issue you will appreciate the two different kinds of freshwater dolphins, including the rare pink dolphins found in the Amazon river. You can also see a variety of primates, including 13 species of monkeys resident in the National Park squirrel and howler monkeys, pygmy marmosets and monkeys. Watch for alligators, and keep your binoculars ready as you will see over 200 species of birds.
06:00 pm Back to Aqua Amazon.
07:00 pm Dinner.
08:00 pm Optional night excursion. Tonight we board the boats in search of alligators, boas, spires and toads. After this night adventure, the Amazon Aqua will start sailing downstream on the Marañon River, toward the headwaters of the Amazon.
Day 4 Birthplace of the Amazon / Puerto Miguel Village / Nauta / Iquitos
07:00 am Breakfast
08:00 am This morning Amazon Aqua skirts the edges of the vast Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, a flooded forest covering five million acres at the headwaters of the Amazon basin. Here, at the junction of two major tributaries, the Ucayali and Maranon, falling world's greatest waterfalls, nature at its best. Your morning excursion will be accompanied by abundant bird song, as you glide in small boats past river banks populated by large-billed terns, laughing falcons, exotic short-tailed parrot, and dozens of other birds.
08:30 am Travel by skiff to Puerto Miguel native village, where you can meet and interact with local villagers from this remote part of the world and learn more about their culture, traditions and folklore. You will also have the opportunity to trade items for local handicrafts. The return travel by boats to a small connecting channel between the Maranon and Ucayali rivers, where you will have the opportunity to see the world's largest aquatic plant, the giant water lilies or "Victoria Regia".
11:40 am Almuerzo farewell on board with the friends he has made during his journey through the Amazon.
01:15 pm Landing /, Visit to Manatee / airport transfer.
This afternoon, visit the Rescue Center Amazon Fauna, a sort of animal orphanage where they receive Amazonian manatees and dolphins and give them a future specialized to save and reintegrate them into their natural habitat attention.
